Don't forget that I am dealing in Canadian dollars. Hopefully your insurance company will end up treating you reasonably.

I wouldn’t take less than 13.5k for this car. Fight harder since our cars are appreciating

Would you mind sharing the name of your insurance company? If you stated already I missed it.

Thanks.

Great thread and response to the insurance company. Looking forward to seeing what they come back with. I'm confident you'll get a fair pay out!

Agreed. Hopefully there is a quick resolution. Those suggesting lawyer up is just a knee jerk reaction. Typical American way of handling things. I think the steps you’ve taken at this time are appropriate.

Great job on the letter. They really should be able to work with that. They'll probably have to send it all to CCC to have them take another look at everything. If they won't budge, it may be time to speak with a supervisor. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Good approach and great letter.
You've got to fight for everything in life..

On a separate note - has anyone here added aftermarket parts coverage? I've been toying with that idea since I'm now getting into some bigger $'s investment into mine...

The company I am dealing with is Zuirch. They have been uniformly horrible. It took them three weeks just to assess the car. I've been handed off to different people multiple times.

As I wrote in another thread, it is not my insurance company. Our insurance agent at Cincinnatus advised us not to file it with them since the other driver was clearly at fault. He said that if they pay out it would likely county against me, even if they later recovered their money. This seems to have been a mistake.

This really does not make sense to me. The only down side to going through your insurance should be that you would have to front the deductible until they recover the loss from the other parties insurance. You were not at fault so their statement that it would count against you is very suspicious. I would challenge them to describe precisely how it would "count against you". Its sounds like, to me, that your insurance company is lazy and doesn't want to deal with the work. It is up to you obviously, but I would highly recommend looking at switching insurance companies after all of this is done. If they are this lazy when the issue is a slam dunk, how do you think they will treat you when something more serious occurs?

One of the reasons to have a good insurance company is that you do not have to deal with whatever "discount" company the other party has. I have had State Farm since I was 16 years old and they have never treated with with anything but respect and speed. Sometimes is it worth paying a few bucks more each month to ensure that you are properly treated when you face a loss and need help.

The OP has already noted his dissatisfaction with the insurance company and his use of Hagerty for other vehicles that he owns (they were not insuring S2000’s when he previously checked).

I ended up switching from State Farm to Hagerty when going over the details of an agreed value policy for the S2000 with my SF agent proved to be challenging (apparently even an agreed value is still not guaranteed). State Farm required an appraisal and referred me to a couple of different specialists with local collector car firms . When I called and informed them what was going on they both recommended that I contact Hagerty who they felt were the best choice for insuring a car like the S2000 provided I met their requirements.

I now have a guaranteed value policy with Hagerty that I set the value of and it costs me less than what I was paying State Farm. State Farm still gets plenty of business from me in the meantime.
