Default touge s2000

if you were to have an s2000 built just for touge would you keep it n/a or boost it. the touge s2000's on best motoring and hot version are mostly n/a but the evo's and sti's kill them on the uphill and on the straights but understeer on the corners. could you have best of both worlds handling and high power for the straights. its only 2wd so with lots of horsepower it would lose traction so would you keep your touge s2000 n/a, turbo, or s/c??? not planning on doing this just curious to what you guys think.

for some reason, i've always associated traditional touge with pure N/A power. Sure the powerband that boost provides would be nice for accelerating out of corners and whatnot, but the simplicity of touge has always seemed to yield itself to N/A applications in my head. I say an N/A car, with the usual gears, ITBs, H/E, tune, and built motor combination is my ideal touge s2k. plus, like you said, traction is key, and since my touge car would be an AP1 without question, VSA isn't an option obviously.

Is altitude a factor too?

In switzerland we have mountain roads where you get easily up to more than 1,5km height. And then the thin air will affect the engine power. With the S2000 you'll notice this especially at lower rpms, where the car is low on power anyway. It's not that bad in the Vtec range, but below it's losing lots of power.

Turbo engines are known to "compensate" the loss of power caused by the thin air in high altitudes.

I once had a 944 turbo, and it did a lot better on mountain touges compared to the S2000, simply because it had a turbo.

I'd like my S2000 to stay NA tho, it fits the car IMO.

From just watching the touge videos, since the S catches up with turbo cars in the turns, but they pull away on the straights, I'd throw a turbo on it to even it out a bit.

a small turbo would suit a touge s2000 very well, imo. 350whp would be enough.

i recently took the s up to the mountain passes at high elevation and the car felt SO SLOWW on the uphill because of the elevation. pre-vtec, i felt like someone took out my motor and put a corolla motor in it. if you're going to do intense uphill climbing, i'd go for a supercharger to provide instataneous boost.

but on the downhill, the s felt soooooo good.

a small turbo wouldn't have to wait for boost. and if it did, you wouldn't feel it much.
