I see everyone's point, and everyone has their own opinion. If everyone wants to believe that I bought it to show off that's fine. i am happy with my decision. I could have bought an sc, but I didn't think using the money to make my car faster than i ever need would have made me happy. i would never use it, so what am i going to do.. just go around to parking lots to lift my hood to show off an sc or turbo. I may not wear the watch everyday, but it was something i wanted, so i got it. lets forget the wifey comment that i made, because if i really wanted FI, i would have gotten it. Right now (after thinking about it) i didn't want it.. maybe some point down the road i will again.. i don't know.. i've thought about modding my S, but never pulled the trigger because it didn't make sense for me and what the car is for me. i like it how it is. i enjoy reading about what the rest of you do with your cars and don't criticize, i thought i would be the same, but after i got the car and i find less and less the need to mod it. again, that may change in another year or two and I might buy a mod for my S, but for now buying the watch is something i wanted, it's something i collect (i have two rolexes, one i inherited and one i bought) and like to have. could i have done without, sure but since i had the money to spend, i spent it on my watch.

Personally, I think you would have been better off investing that cash in a CD, nothing like compounding interest.
Now the only thing that gets me is that you consider the watch an investment, I'm not sure if that's how you justify it or if you just thought we'd think better about it if it was presented as an investement. It's not an good investment, sure you may recoup 'most' of your $$ from it but by definition that would be a bad investment.

Anyway, glad you like your watch, I bet it's pretty nice.

You don't have to be rich, gullible or someone who wants to appear rich to enjoy nice things.
True - but you do have to be rich, gulliable or vain to own one!

Diamonds, frak that. Diamonique.

Trust me, even the shrewdest of women on "The Island" (Bainbridge) couldn't tell the difference on my wifes 3.5 ct wedding ring.

$38,000 or $80 on something that has a 60% chance of getting pawned?

Funny thing is, she ended up losing it at the beach with the kids and it was an utter tragedy for her. Good thing it wasn't real...

Assumptions are the mother of all f**k ups. Who ever said that that I couldn't afford more then 2? For the record I have 3. I don't consider myself a watch collector and jal3lee has one that was inherited and one that he bought.. Even if your a collector you've got to start somewhere, hell Jay Leno had to start with one car.

For a Breitling, yes. For a Cartier? I'd go w/ turbo.
But that's just me.

Agreed, did you assume I was directing my comment at you? My comment was for the OP, but 3 items isn't a collection either

But one easy assumption, you're both s

EDIT: Ofcourse there is difference between "can afford" and I have some much cash lieing around that I can blow 5k of it on a watch. I can afford the 300K house and the 30K car I'm driving, but I don't have the money for a 5K watch. $300 dollar sunglasses yes, $800 headphones yes, Flat screen TV yes. 5K watch to tell me the time no...

Get a slave and have them follow you around to tell you what time it is whenever you want to know.

That'd be the shizzle, yo.
