Tow hook OK to pull on flat bed or not?
Hello All,
If you have the service manual for the 03, on page 1-18, the fifth paragraph down states, "The towing hook can be used with a winch to pull the vehicle onto the truck..."
However, the last paragraph on the page states, "The tow hook should not be used to tow the vehicle onto a flat-bed."
Sounds contradictory to me, what do you guys think?

I say do it! I've seen it done (and done it) several times.
Much better option than trying to hook on to the frame awkwardly, damaging the bumper or lip (if you have one), etc.
Haven't seen it as a problem at all. I might not try to pull the car up a straight vertical surface, but wouldn't hesitate to use it on a flatbed.

Actually, I found that there isn't enough clearance with the hook and the bumper to do it. If you use that hook the bumper will get scratched up when the truck pulls you onto the truck bed.
