We've been offered a fantastic deal on a Laser sailboat (little 1 man race boat, 14ft, fiberglass, more like a hard dingy with a sail and trailer) but neither of our cars have hitches; her's is an Xa.

Has anyone towed anything with an S2000? Any thoughts?

 

Which car are you more likely to take when you put out in the water? I imagine it's not the S.

The S will tow it just fine, there was a guy towing a speedboat with his S for years which I can't seem to find the thread for.

I didn't mean launching it from a launch ramp. I mean packing a cooler, life jacket, sun block etc for a day by the water. If you're doing this by salt water, do you want to bring your S there? Etc. Those were my concerns.

 

The boat, trailer, & gear could be as light as 300 lbs. The car should be able to tow it short distances on level ground with no big issues - aside from seeing what's behind you. Fun boat to sail. One of my neighbors just upgraded from a Laser to a Hunter 140 to accommodate his kids.

Ah, I see. Well this S goes everywhere, to the beach every other weekend on the Pacific Coast, to the mountains in snow, down gravel roads for miles in the forest. If I was driving it in the ocean that would be a different story, but parked by a lake or salt water for the day isn't going to do much damage!
