Tracking without a rollbar
another thing to consider is the hazards of installing a roll bar and then using it for street use. You dont wear your helmet while driving on the street, and in the event of an accident, there is a high likelihood that you'll whack your head on the roll bar. I track my car with the stock roll hoops and havent modified it for a roll bar as i regularly use my car on the street as well. I am fairly impressed with the pics of flipped S2K's and how well they hold up.
I am in the boat with the guys that like the factory roll hoops. From the crash photos I have seen, I have not seen a roll over of an S2k that made me think "That would have been better with a roll bar". Plus you are talking about doing HPDE events, while there is a risk of an incident, as there is with anything (even driving your car down the street), the idea of an HPDE event is to keep that risk pretty low.
To the OP: just as a note, if you're considering running a harness, that's going to necessitate a rollbar. I mainly installed a rollbar so I could use a 6-point harness (proper seat required). If you're looking at doing any decent amount of track time, it's really worth looking into, the difference is night and day. Also a dedicated set of track pads & rotors should be at the top of your list as well. I can tell you right now to not expect your stock brakes to be there if you want to charge into turn 1 at lightning at 125mph, lap after lap.

I am using a CG lock for track/autox events IMO I think that will be plenty to hold me in.
