If you don't mind me asking, what did they give you on the trade?

Got the Bimmer for around $41K, or about $1,400 above invoice.

I sure do miss looking at it in my garage! It's been only three days after trading it in, I still get a bit wistful when I see another S2000 zooming by on the road! I also really miss the shifter...really, the best stock shifter in the business bar none!

The Infiniti G35 is tough competition for the BMW. It's similar to the Z4 against the S2000. I think the Nissan and the Honda are more aesthetic and better cars in many ways ... and who really wants to pay $10,000 for the name? At least the 3 Series doesn't yet have the sleepy eye look of the new 7 and 5.

Maintenance on the BMW is not a lot cheaper then the S. In fact Maintenance on any BMW under 4 years old is free!!!! That includes everything on the car, bumper to bumper except tires. After that BMW dealerships are expensive but there are lots of good mechanics for BMW who are reasonable. Do it yourself maintenance is also easier then the S. Once you have done an oil change with a canister type filter you never want to go back to a spin on!!!!

As GeorgeP said, the Bimmer comes with 4yr/50,000 mile free maintenance. All you have to do is just pump gas! Other than fluid changes, the maintenance program also covers front and rear brake pads and rotors, wiper blades, all drive belts, and all adjustments except the clutch. Now, once the warranty expires, I agree that maintenance can be costly, but I probably won't be keeping the car past the warranty period.

My insurance also is cheaper...the Bimmer costs $50 less per year to insure than the S2000!
