I read somewhere that you weren't suppose to tow anything with the S2... something about the differential I thought.
??? I don't see how. My Subaru has 2 limited slips (middle, rear) and a trailer hitch. I have no problem pulling a 700lb motorcycle with my Kendon trailer. Most serious boat/horse trailer pulling trucks seem to have either 4WD or a limited slip rear for climbing out of grassy fields or up slippery boat ramps. The only problems I see are tongue weight and the actual weight of the trailer. I'd imagine the S2k could jackknife rather easily.
Can someone why the limited slip might pose a problem with the S2k?
In my humble opinion, I don't think it is the rear end that is an issue. The S2k was not designed to tow. I am gonna put a hitch on mine to haul about 400lbs (with trailer) of autox tires and tools. I am guessing that Honda does not want someone towing a ski boat or horses behind it because the body of the car will not be able to handle it the extra weight. I am sure the transmission isn't built for it it.
This all, of course, is my humble opinion and experience with miatas, cars, trucks, and tractors and now, S2k's.
this is the and i promised ...
the hitch is barely noticeable when not pulling a trailer, which is good. but it might be more visible outdoor, would it? (because of all the sun light)
i read from some miata web site that there are some kind of hidden hitch that hid behind the rear bumper. it's not visibly at all! but sounds like you got to use their proprietary trailer. i think i can find out more if any one is interested.
