Default Tranny and Diff fluid change

Hey guys I just got a quote from my Honda Dealer for the Tranny fluid change (60 bucks) and Diff fluid change (80 bucks)...is this about normal? The tranny didn't seem to bad but 80 for the differential sounded pretty high. Let me know what prices you have gotten on these fluid changes.

Thanks,
Brandon

P.S. I'm approaching 30K that's why I'm doing all this in case you were wondering.

You can do it for easily 10 dollars and 45 minutes of free time. I did my DIFF, Tranny, and Engine Oil, within an hour. Which added to about 30 bucks, b/c of mobil 1 syn. oil for the engine. I used Penzoil Syncromess for my tranny, and Mobil 1 (something) for the diff. Do it if you can, it will save money in the long run after you figure it out the first time.

That sounds about double the price of what my dealer charges. When I was there last week to pick up parts I grabbed their service booklet and they charge $47 for the tranny and $49 for the diff. I would never take it there to get it done, since it's stupid easy and I do all the work on my cars, but I was just curious as to what the going rate was for different things.

I just drained my tranny on Sunday with close to 12k on the odo. Fluid was like new engine oil and replaced it with Honda tranny fluid. It was the same color.

Next up, the diff!

Just an FYI,

The tranny fill plug is just above the drain plug... the directions say the fill plug is 18mm. But I found mine to be a 17mm. The 3/8 rachet worked just fine.

And my fill plug was torqued down pretty snug.

Make sure you buy a pump for the fluid! $5 at my auto store.
