This may not have been the case. We've discussed "galvanic corrosion" (or adhesion) on this forum quite extensively in the past. This is a characteristic most prevalent when aluminum bolt heads are in contact with aluminum casings. They tend to "stick" on in a very short time even though the correct torque was originally applied.
The trick to NOT doing any damage to these bolt heads when removing is to apply the socket (or allen key in the case of the spark plug cover bolts), hold the wrench such that all the "slack" is removed and then sharply and quickly "SNAP" the bolt free. Once it's been snapped, you can usually turn it by hand. If you apply coninually increasing force, all you'll do is round off the bolt head.

Change your differential right away. 30k is way too long for your first diff change IMO.

It's not my first, I bought the car when it was close to 20K and it had previously been changed.

 

Good! I change my every 10k and everytime I do, I feel a huge difference when accelerating while turning. I got quotes of 40 dollars to have the diff fluid changed from the dealership here, but I do it myself. When you do it the first time follow xvipers directions, they helped a lot.

 

Did the change this weekend (Mobil one synthetic for the diff and Honda MTF for the Tranny). This was easy, but I have one question...what is the special additive in the Honda MTF? It is basic 10w30 engine oil, but with some kind of extra additive, or so the book says. Anyone know what this is for sure?

 

im thinking about changing my diff fluid at 2k miles(i have about 1900 miles now). do u think its a good idea to do it this soon? i heard the differentail fluid gets really dirty during breakin.
