Some AP-1 trannys work better with differnt oils, if you can get your car tillted to the right then you can put more oil in, as some here suggest. But as long as its filled up to the hole on a level surface, then its full. The GMSMFM mtl lasted about 5k in mine, there are members here with 20k or more on there fill of GMSMFM and are still happy. you may get differnt results. But its worth a try.

 

I ran GMSMFM for about 12k miles before changing it out. Once warmed up, it was very smooth, better than Honda MTF. Cold shifting stopped being smooth after around 5k miles I guess.. but up to that point it was better than the old Honda MTF.

 

I replaced mine with Honda's new MTF and WOW...... what a huge difference it made over the old mixture. If you can get it.... GET IT! Its got a lime green label.

 

Just replaced mine with Honda's MTF this Sunday. Drove it to work this morning. Seems to be fine.

what about redline MT90? no one mention those

is it worth it to send in to the shop to change it?

 

do it yourself dude. it takes like 10 minutes, not including letting the car sit for the old fluid to drain out. you just need a fluid pump and a good jack/jackstands.

 

I used RL MT-90 and it was OK in the hot weather, but took a while to warm up. And was notchy when cold. And it was never as smooth as GMSMFM. I would not use it but for a track car. If you have a shop that will change oil, then have them do your tranny at the same time.
