hey guys,

I need some expertly advice or help.
Last couple of days driving my car, I noticed something strange with it. When I downshift, and allow both the gear and the brakes to slow the car down and come to a stop, the car won't come out of gear (any gear, not any gear in particular).

Now, this only happens once in a while, and it seems to come out gently after a few seconds.
I am not forcing it out, but it gently slides out eventually. I also noticed that playing with the clutch pedal has allowed it to come out. Not sure if thats coincidence or not.

Its a weird feeling. Its the same restriction you feel if you try to pull the car out of gear without a clutch pedal in.

So, the logical thing is the clutch, right?
But what would make it not disengage like that?

Oh, and the clutch and flywheel have about 10K miles on them. Advice? Help?

Sounds like the clutch may not be fully disengaging. You don't have anything under the clutch peddle do you (like bunched up carpet)? Might consider bleeding the clutch fluid, may have gotten air or moisture in the hydraulics. Check with service dept. This is similar to some motorcylces when the clutch is badly adjusted (won't fully disengage); it's hard to get out of gear and into neutral. Playing with the clutch in and out while 'nudging' on the shifter helps it along. Just a thought, anybody else?

xviper,
thanks. I am hoping that its just an adjustment issue or fluid. I hope Honda doesn't give me shit for this

Check your hydraulic fluid level ASAP.

Most of the time its the fluid, and I hope this time it is also.

One time I had a tranny with a shift for that broke off and it would jam it in gear unless the car was moving. But you would lose a couple gears if that happened.

So if its the fluid, what does that mean?

It shouldn't just go low, right?
Something caused that.

Your fluids shouldn't be low. I would suspect a leak of some kind. I would take it to the dealership and let them analyze it for you. It's still under warranty, right?

What does the car do when you let the brake off, does it creep forward?

What does the revs do when if slips out of gear, does it increase slightly?

If yes to either of these, I would also vote for clutch not disengaged fully.
