I heard that the noise causes no future damage or anything. Getting the TSB done is totally up to you. I guess it's just a personal preference thing, noise or no noise? Maybe consider having it done when it's time for you to get a new clutch? It'll save you money.
jim the noise is a buzzing sound it happens only during decl.
in 1st,2nd,and sometimes 3rd gear. i was told at the honda
dealer that the springs in the clutch disk were not strong enough
there for it cause a vibrition and thats the buzzing noise you
here. you can pull the TSB off the web, go search under
AUTO RECALLS click on to NHTSA RECALL DATABASE. from there
you can enter your yr,make and model to find all recalls the
vehicle has.

Many people have reported that after the TSB was done, the noise comes back within a 1000 miles. My car is about 20 months, have had the decel buzz since new, have never done a thing about it and the car runs fine. It's all in how you perceive if something is "wrong". I chose to just ignore it. This car has lots of mechanical noises anyway. If you wanted a "perfect" noise free car, well ................ I can't really think of one.

I have had my silverred since 10/2/99 and I noticed the buzzing within days of my purchase. I became aware of the "first" TSB (00-054)involving this early in 2000. I intentionally chose NOT to have the work done because I didn't trust any mechanic to pull my transmission. I lived with this noise until it became truly GODAWFUL. Trust me, on longer trips every time I let off the throttle the buzzing from the transmission caused this irritating high-pitched resonance to emit from somewhere near the driver-side dashboard. I started getting headaches from the noise, I kid you not. As luck would have it my car had 35,500 miles on it when I took it to the dealer with the TSB in hand. Problem was I had printed the TSB directly from out of the Library section of this site but I didn't know they had the EARLIER TSB linked, not the most recent update to the clutch. Guess what? The mechanics put in the WRONG part number and I didn't discover their (my) mistake until the next day when I did a thorough search of this site. I found the right TSB and took the car back to the dealer. The dealer balked at the new request and made me wait 3 weeks while they confirmed the new TSB with Honda corporate. Meanwhile my car creeped closer to 36,000 miles. I finally got to the parts dept and they admitted to getting the right part number in, so I took my car back yet again for the work. They did it quicker this time, probably due to the fact I had given them practice and my car is much quieter now. The clutch doesn't feel as tight and I no longer have that slight crunchy feel when I floor the clutch.
The original TSB is dated December 19, 2000 and has a part # of 22200-PCX-025. The buzzing will come back eventually with this part.
I can't find my receipt or the TSB at the moment but I think the latest TSB has a part number of 22200-PCX-055 and is dated March 2001.
Last I checked the library is still linked to the the old TSB with the old part number.
Also, be aware that this work should be done in 6 hours or less if they have the right parts in stock so don't let them hold on to your car for days on end.

Thank you so much.
My S2000 mechanic admitted to hearing the noise on a test drive, but said nothing of the TSB. He said it would be nearly impossible to find the source of a noise like that, and guess what, he didn't find it. I will bring a copy of the bulletin.
Should I worry about printing the page directly from this website?(they may decide to come snooping on the web after that)
thanks...

I have a 2001 S2000 with 19,xxx miles on it and I had the buzzing noise decel in 2nd and 3rd gear. It's started months ago, finally took it in to the dealer a week or so ago. They had their top machanic work on it. He went for a ride with me to confirm everything. He heard the noise, called up Honda and they said to replace the clutch disk. He ordered the part then took off the tranny and found out that the flywheel and pressure plate had burn marks on it. He also called Honda and they said to replace all the clutch components under warranty. So far it's been pretty quiet!!! Keeping the fingers crossed. I also had the window fixed and the latches replaced. They used the hardtop latches so it's much stiffer now when I release the top and clip it back on. Feels more solid...no more clicking noises from the top when I go over bumps.
