US uses the model year thing. i.e. even if the car's made in 2003, it is a MY2004 if it's intended to be sold as a 2004 year ... dunno the legal wording of that, but that's my understanding ...

The 99 and 00 AP1s cost around $430,000 hkd when the dealers had them. A bit more than $60,000 usd I guess?

Honda doesn't sell S2000s anymore in HK, most of the 'Brand New' s2k's are import used.

I know this topic has been raised before...but...

How do I check which year an S2000 (or any car) was REALLY manufactured?

This import S2000 from Japan is not registered yet, they claim that it was manufactured in 2004 but I just want to make sure.

I sent an email to Honda in HK for some help but not sure if they can.

Any ideas?

Wow, didn't know that HK no longer sells S2s.

Do a Vin check to see what comes up. The center console is definitely an AP2 console, but whether or not it was converted is not known.

There is no Carfax in HK

Well, if the owner has the time and effort to change little things like the clutch cylinder and horn and subframe, other than the obvious things like the gauges (which are hard to change), then I guess you might as well treat it as a 2004+?
