^^^ Where are you located? S2000 resale prices seem to vary widely by region. For example, that's an awesome price for that s2000 in California. But if you are in the northeast, there are probably better deals to be had now while it's still snowing out...

Did they tell you what the problem was? Did the TSB problem with the "clutch buzz" solution fix the problem, or did you have to replace the whole clutch?
Replacing the clutch with the updated 2002 clutch IS the fix recommended in the buzzing on deceleration TSB. The updated clutch is designed for different dampning characteristics.

Note that the clutch buzz issues does not have any mechanical ramifications if it goes unaddressed. It's just an annoyance.

I'm in Alabama. I think this may not be the one for me. I think the price sounds great but I'm not completely comfortable with the clutch issue. This is the only S2000 i've driven so maybe the 'harshness' is normal. I took it to a buddy who manages a tire store who has driven them before and he advised me to stay away. I'm currently driving a GS400 and love the community at clublexus.com This site seems to be great too. Thanks for the quick responses and great info everybody!

the clutch buzz is pretty normal for 00-01 cars...almost all of them do it. there is NO problem that will cause anything to break...it is just vibration due to gear lash. eventually it will need a new clutch, then you can replace it with the updated one. unless you have a long relationship with a honda dealer, they will almost certainly NOT replace a clutch off warranty for this annoyance. my S does it; I don't care really. i just shift to neutral when decellerating.

even in the winter, 14500 is a low price. given all the stuff you've mentioned (body damage being the big one), that is why the price is so low. it could have frame damage. A MY01 with that many miles in great condition could and should go for 17-19K

carfax doesn't catch everything...accidents have to be reported. it's not like a carfax guy is at every accident writing stuff down body shops can be "greased" so as NOT to report incidents, too.

Just tried to get this done on mine...

The DSM said no to the repair, Honda Care said no, and customer relations said no. Not to mention the customer relations guy had the worst attitude.

Kept saying warranty doesn't cover clutches, even though the noise is due to the springs on the clutch, not me wearing it out. I tried to make them understand that but had no luck.

We buy Honda's most expensive car and get the worst customer service.

sorry to bring up an old thread, but i just bought a 00' s2k that has this problem. Its good to read that this "clutch buzz" will not affect anything mechanical. I was very afraid that the transmission was all screwed up,lol...........Also what does "TSB" stand for. I want to go to several honda dealerships and see if they can fix this buzzing for me. Also what exactly is required in fixing this problem??? The sound is really annoying as someone stated above.

I believe TSB stands for Technical Service Bulletin. I assume it is to help technicians repair common or difficult problems.
