Default The Truth

Ok im tired of hearing both sides of this story....the story of carbon fiber hoods.

Does a carbon fiber hood actually weigh less than our hood? I find it hard to believe considering that the s2k hood is made of ALUMINUM not steel. If i were to buy a OEM carbon fiber hood, what kind of weight savings am i looking at? I dont want a mg, or or some vented thing. I want a OEM because im going for weight savings.

Let me know

Hmm from what i have read on the boards, our hood is already pretty light weight and a carbon fiber would benefit if you are a serious track man or just lookin for alittle bling, thats the most of what i have read but i could most likely be wrong for im not sure of exactly what a stock hood weighs compared to a CF hood

i think dry carbon hoods give more of a weight saving than those mg "style" aka seibon hoods.

You will save more weight by removing the tools and spare tire from the rear

Total cost ~ $0.00

Yes the hood is aluminum

Rear trunk is heavy. If i were to buy CF I would think about that.

Besides that the heavy parts of the car are the fenders and the doors.

I sometimes wonder: Wouldn't removing spare tire and tools in the trunk throw the 50/50 weight distribution off? (especially when you have close to empty tank of gas)
