TSB clutch "stronger?"
I know of one person who got the new clutch and was able to burn it. Got the second gear grind a couple times, too. I drove the car lightly once, and didn't notice much difference from mine.
Yep, the new clutch is sooooooo much better. It holds (unlike the first one), doesn't smell really bad when you try to break the rear end loose (unlike the first one) and doesn't slip (unlike the first one). Get it done.
Is today TSB-55 question day?
Is today TSB-55 question day?
I guess it is LDogdotcom...but I've got to ask an opinion...I have a MY2000 S2K and maybe done the grind once on my error so my car doesn't seem to have any serious "grind" problems...I haven't been to the dealer at all in the 11 months I've had the car, except for the front license plate hole plugs. Should I go up there and tell them about how my car may have a weak transmission and they should fix it due to this TSB I have in my hand??? Since my car doesn't seem to have any problems should I just not worry about it? Anyone else wondering about this?

Yep, that's what I did. I had none of the grinding that people talked about. But on the 2 occasions that I did a hard (4500 rpm) launch, it did the exact same thing that you are describing. Upon bringing it in and telling the dealer about the "intermittent" grind (which never happened), I got it all fixed. And you know what? The pressure place was scored, the clutch was worn, etc. As soon as it was repaired, it hooked up like it should have done.
Long story short, my transmission was pulled 5000 miles later, and the TSB clutch and pressure plate were in perfect condition. I got a whole new tranny, but they left the "updated" clutch assembly in it.
If it hasn't been done, get it done. You "think" that there is nothing wrong with your car, like I did. But chances are, there is some tranny poo going on in there.
Ignorance is bliss, you know. I thought I had one of the few from-the-factory-perfect S2000s. Gawd I was wrong.
Good luck, though.
