Can someone refresh my memory...I remeber when the first S2000 articles came out that Honda had 3 steering/suspension setups for the press. European (more twitchy), U.S. (less twitchy), and the Japanese (somewhere in between?).

Did Honda stick with those setups or did they choose one for all. Just wondering if this is the reason why CAR and other Brit mags believe the car oversteers too much....

I am not aware of any differences in steering / suspension except for the recent type-v.

Some early cars tested by the press apparently had different brake pads, but I have not read of any other differences.

See if you can find the article.. maybe you are thinking of another car?

I remember this article as well and it was about the S2K. The American journalist was lamenting the fact that the US would not get the tail-happy setup but that it was probably best to avoid any possibility of a class-action lawsuit. I'll try to find the article and let you know.

Wow that would make sense. I read two european articles and an australian article, all saying that the S2000's rear breaks loose like crazy-- lots of oversteer. I never read anything about that in any of the US reviews, so I thought perhaps the US reviewers weren't being thorough.
It would be interesting to find out whether this is true.

For me, the car wouldn't necessarily break loose during a turn, but when exiting turn with throttle being put wide open, there may be a tendency to fishtail. I suppose with wrong correcting inputs or slippery road, the car would would be heading tail first very easily.

I remember a similiar article now in a UK write-up, CAR magazine I think, in Japan tested a few set-ups, but what I also now recall was that the version with the hardest set up actually 'broke' mechanically rather than broke-down (electrically etc.) if you see what I mean!

Wow, you have a good memory. That was even before JDM production started.

I kept all the S2000 articles I could get my greedy little hands on...

It would be interesting to find out for sure if there really is a difference and fun to compare (road test anyone?).
