Default Turbo S2k

I was recently told that a stock S2000 was faster than a turbo S2k since the turbo S2k had so much more power that you had to launch it at a very low rpm to avoid burning the tires. Does this have any truth behind it at all?

Car A has x horsepower
Car B has y horsepower

x>y

Car A and Car B are otherwise identical.

Car A is faster.

Hopefully this cleared things up.

Well, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He said it was only the case with an S2000, so I figured this was the place to ask.

I could argue that a NA S2000 could pull a better 1/4 mile than a SC S2000. The only reason would be that the NA S2000 could launch rather aggressively where the SC S2000 should be much more concerned about his stock rear end and axles. It could be very possible for the NA S2000 to get a better launch and be out quick, that's hard to make . As a very concerned SC S2000 driver I was only able to pull a 13.9 slipping the clutch out just under 6K. I can assure you that if I would have launched it in VTEC I could have pulled a 13.1-13.3 without a problem. With my 4.44 installed my times dropped to 13.5 with the exact same type of launch.

I would not argue that a turbo S2000 would be the same scenario simply because it's considerably faster than a SC S2000...and will not be pulling a 13.8-13.9 even with a weak launch. So, I understand the person's theory.

They would have to be custom made and would run you around $1,000 for the pair. Contact Drive Shaft Shop if you're serious about having some fabricated. I don't know anyone who's gone through with having a complete axle made.
