Default Turn Signal

My turn signals don't shut off automatically as the car tracks back to a straight line. Is this omitted at the factory or a problem with my car? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a problem with the car.

It depends on how big a turn you made after turning on your turn signal. In ALL cars, if you make a small turn with the steering wheel (not enough to "click" the turn signal switch), then when you straighten the wheel it will not turn off the turn signal.

Having said all that, so are you experiencing this problem for all kinds of turns (such as 90-degree turns)? Anything more specific such as right turn only or left turn only or both. If it is not turning off with a 90-degree turn, I'd say your car has a problem. Good luck.

And remember that our cars have a tight steering ratio. I've taken a lot of left-hand turns that weren't sharp enough to trigger the signal's automatic return.

Both the S and the Scoo-Bee-Doo shut off after big turns, both stay on after small turns. Roughly 30 degrees seems to be the point of shut off.

As others have pointed out, if it's a shallow turn, it's not uncommon for the turn signal to stay on. That parts normal.

If you're making a standard 90 degree turn in either direction at a normal intersection like you'd find in literally millions of cities and towns around the world and your turn signals are still not cancelling themselves, then you've got a problem.

Take it to the dealer and have them check it out. I'd bet the actual problem, if you've got one, is relatively simple.

Good luck & Drive Safe,
Steve R.
