Another good reason to turn off PM is that I have it setup to email me a notification when I get a PM. There have been several times when I did not get notification, or got the notification a few hours later.

the MAIN reason why i did that is because emails are easier to sort and search - i get a few hundred PMs a month and i need to keep track of what was promised and what was said.
