Yesterday... I had a long... boring... monotonous drive all the way to Grand Rapids from Detroit. Nothing but 3 hours of cornfields... long open stretches and the clickity-clack of your tires

About a quarter of the way, I began to get a little highway hypnosis and had to gun it to avoid being oblivious to a "lane ends" sign. ...in the process, I flew by a Cadillac Deville. I think I rocked the water, cause the guy seemed to be in the exact same boat as me! 'cause as I proceeded to pass him, he got a little of the competitive edge! We pushed each other about 90+mph the rest of the way! When we finally parted, he had a huge smile, rolled down his window and shouted "Thanks for the fun!! ...it's hard not to feel old and slow driving this car!!" ...well, thanks to this guy... we made it to Grand Rapids 30 minutes shy of my previous record... But it was nice to see common courtesy, instead of the typical road rage for a change.

(Don't worry, as mentioned in previous threads... It is rare for me to speed! When I do, I practice VERY safe habits!)

Today, I helped the significant other and filled in for her at work. After no more than about 10 minutes of sitting at the desk (she is the Fitness Coordinator for Ford Fitness Centers), and nice gentleman walked in and was just Raving about that "beautiful suzuka Blue S2000" out in the parking lot (...he really just said blue... I filled in to help him out a little! ). So the two of us proceeded to talk for about 20 minutes about cars. Come to find out, he collects them! ...must be nice!!?? In his stable he quoted having a "Dodge Viper R/T, 1968 Chevy Camero SS, an old Ford Cobra Roadster, his daily driver- Ford Focus wagon!! , a old Jeep (I can't remember what kind, but it is one of the one's you have to have shipped to the US through Canada. No interior whatsoever... completely steel... For easy cleaning after some off roading), and about 4 others that were to old or rare for me to remember! He told me that he was really looking to get the Audi TT convertable for his wife to have as a summer car. ...I said "ARE YOU CRAZY!!"... and I proceeded to tell him everything I knew about the car, and he still wasn't 100% convinced.

...So we went for a ride!! Vtec speaks louder than a 1000 words!

...needless to say... he was convinced. I gave him the card of my dealer, and he's going to look into the 2004's this week.

It feels good to positively enhance the world of those around you! (not that having his stable wouldn't be satisfying enough!)

(apparently this guy, he and 2 others for Ford are responsible for completely tearing down new models Mustangs... putting back together... and then teaching all company technicians how to do it themselves!! I assume he is making BANK and he said that he only has to work about half the year! ***...but yet, he didn't mention owning one of his own WEIRD!?) I went into the wrong industry!

my best friend is buying a s2000 soon b/c of me, he was sold after i let him drive it around for 30 minutes(we swapped cars, he has a 98 ITR hes selling). he used to tell me that s2000's are nice but dont have enough torque(he just read that in magazines). after he finally drove it, he said he was sorry about his "lack of torque" statement and said the gearing makes up for it.

hes getting a 2002 white/red next week.
