what's your goal? you wanna stick with NA, run boost, or squeeze juice? the first mods i'd do is weight reduction (i could lose another 20 pounds, but that's unlikely seeing how i love to eat): remove the spare, take out the passenger seat, remove the tool kit, carpeting, etc. - those are the free mods. to spend some money: get lightweight wheels, lighter weight brake components, light weight battery, lightweight racing seat, etc.

after that i'd decide on the first question i asked: NA, boost, or juice? and go from there.

Thanks Mingster, I'm 'Sal'. I'll stay natural asp for now. I know the basics like intake, exhaust, lighten the car, etc. How about computer upgrades???? Is anyone messing around with the computer or can the vetec be set to come in earlier.

Thanks again!

Black Moon,

I am seriously not just saying this, but the S2000 does get faster over time! I just test drove a 2002 a week ago, and I was shocked at how slow it was. It had 894 miles on it, and felt nothing compared to my stock s2k. I then drove in my firends stock S2000 with 6700 miles on it, and it was a worlds difference. Let it break in more, and you'll see a difference

you sure the car isn't supposed to get slower??????
i hope you're right...
at about 20k miles i should be giving m3's a run for their money then huh?
if your theory's correct... and i hope it is!

btw, i'm joking about that m3 remark... i know some people (no saying you) take stuff to literally here.

Tommy,

You had me going there for a moment!

No but seriously, didn't you feel a better acceleration after more miles? At about 5k is when I knew the car was alot faster than when I got it....

F20C engine has alot of moving parts... the fully break in for the engine should be more than 10000 miles. so I guess S2000 will be faster with the more mileage it had drive, maybe until 70-80K miles the car will become slower.

from my experience, my 00 S2000 with 19000 miles are obvious faster than my 02 with only 700 miles. also the longer you spend on break in period help too, I am going to do a 3000 miles break in period for my 02 S2000.

i believe honda's original power target for the s2000 was 220bhp, with target weight for the car something like (can't remember exactly) 2500lbs. since the car ended up ~250lbs overweight, they simply added another 20bhp/30ps. they SSM show car had a V-5, which was abandoned to save weight. i don't believe it made 270bhp. also, i don't believe the F20C is detuned. on the contrary, look at how hard it is to extract additional NA horsepower...

i wouldn't mind an RS2400 or whatever you want to call it with 300 NA horses.

Thanks for the feed back guys. It was also a looooooong trip and my perspective will probably change the next time I drive the car. I may continue the break in for another 1000 miles. The car didn't use a drop of oil like I've heard. I think the GP white just doesn't feel fast. Maybe I should trade someone for a silver or red. What is remarkable is the engineering. I've had 17 vettes, a few German and 1 Italian and the Japaneese certainly have their shit together. Any one want to buy a 1971 Plymouth GTX, frame off restored, 4th place national champion with 600hp? 35K it's a steal!!
Thanks again for the feed back.

The thing about Honda's Type-R cars is that they always started life as something else; a sub-compact, sedan, etc. The S2000 started life as a sports car. Doesn't really seem logical to have a "sport" version of a sports car. Kinda redundant.
