U K Problems
I have just been talking to my dealer about my 2nd Gear problems. I gave him the details of the Service Bulletins on the main page but he says these dont apply in the UK.Has anyone else been sucesfull in pursuing this. I have been complaining about this problem since last June but I am told by the dealer there is nothing wrong!
I'm almost sure that other owners in Oz have had the 2nd gear fix, so I don't understand why the U.K. would be excluded. It's the same hardware isn't it?
If you don't get any replies to your post from other U.K. guys, you should call around to other Honda dealers and ask them if the same U.S./Oz service bulletins apply in the U.K. Bet you get different answers. Most dealers service departments probably don't want to mess with it because they have zero experience on S2Ks.

It seems that as far as Honda UK are concerned, nothing on this car is the same as in the US. Mine is currently in because the aircon does not work. They have told me that any of the problems documented in the US are not connected, as the UK spec cars use a completely different system.
Anyway, I had my gearbox replaced because of the grind problem. They changed the clutch at the same time as instructed by Honda. Mine was the second 'box they had changed. They did a good job of it too.
Welcome to the board. I'm often in Eastbourne, but haven't seen any other stooks there.

Hi Rob
Thanks for the info. Which dealer did the gearbox change for you.
I have had my Stook since last April (silver/red) and one of my friends in Hailsham has one too (black/red).

Mine's my daily driver at the moment, had it almost a year. Even went top down last weekend!

Hello UK Owners
I have been having fun with Honda UK too. I must say that i do not appreciate the way UK appear to not communicate with the US or this board even. I started the Low Oil or No Oil thread and the one about the engine cutting out at 6500 rpm.
I seem to have got all the answers from this board - Honda UK were useless. They didnt even suggest checking the oil level?*!
I work in IT Support and often have to ask obvious questions in order to eliminate the answers when trouble shooting. Checking the oil would it seems be an obvious first place to check, but not for me!
My sister lives in Worthing and I in West London so often find myself whizzing down the A24 on a weekend :-)

Hello to all European owners. First there is a problem with our cars too, and on early days there were some people who had gearbox failure and replacement under warranty. My gearbox was the first reported in the old board to be substututed by HONDA by means of an official recall. At first I talked to them , they knew nothing about a problem and few months later they called me to tell me that there was going to be new gearboxes coming in for us. As far as I know HONDA EU for part supply is based in Germany and is the one planning the distribution of the improved gearboxes. It's not a repair is a new box with improved 2nd gear synchros and improved oil pump for added lubrication and cooling during European high speed runs.(Sorry US only mandatory for European lunatics- so drive crazy to catch up). So maybe you want to tell them that and try to find some additional info from HONDA Germany.
Maybe HONDA UK will say that service bulletin covers a TRANSMISSION and not a GEARBOX.

I'm sure there must be the equivalent of a zone rep in the UK. That's who we usually have to contact here in the U.S. when the dealer is unresponsive. It is my understanding that the original grind problem was first recognized and addressed in Germany. I see no reason why a German gearbox (LHD) would be any different fom a UK one. Go to whomever you have to over your dealer's head to get satisfaction. Good luck.
