Un-lurking
Hi, gang --
(I tried to think of a better description than "un-lurking," but all that occurred to me was "outing," and that, somehow, didn't seem just right...)
Anyway, I've been lurking about anonymously for a while, trying to get a feel for the culture here and, in the process, learning about these wonderful little cars. Via the search feature, I've found answers to most of my up-front questions in various existing threads (xviper's "FAQ" being particularly helpful, bwahaha), although I'm going to raise something relatively trivial below.
First, though, I should say that I'm going to get myself an '05 S2K if a new job I'm in line for comes through. I

the top is pretty compact; it invades the trunk very little.
i don't think you could keep the cover there AND see out the back. most people simply keep the cover in their house and never use it.

I only use my 'boot' cover during the dry season here in FL (winter). With the hit and run showers here the rest of the year it's just too much of a pain to put it on and off, (especially when you get hit by a shower) I've never noticed any difference in the aerodynamic 'flow' (Xviper has a really good thread around somewhere on different configurations of windscreens etc. to reduce cabin turbulence) The only thing the convertible top cover does IMO is keep the inside of the top clean and improve the lines of the car slightly. I drove my 00' for 4 yrs and rarely put it on, and had only a very minor lightening of the color of the conv. top on the part exposed to the sun (I use 303 on the inside and outside of the top) and I ONLY close the top when it's raining, so the outside still looked new when I traded the car on my 04'. So send it on ahead with the household stuff and don't worry about it.
Happy and safe driving, welcome to FL.. if you're going to be in the Miami area, invest in an alarm,.. check the S. FL forums for all the theft problems people are having down there
Cheers. Mike
