I've seen the results from back to back comparisons on the track. Same driver, same car, same day, same track. They drive the track without the brace, install the brace, drive the track again. Lather rinse, repeat. It made NO difference to the lap times.

Seat of the pants feel is not scientific. Lap times are.
One could argue that the "same" driver didn't have the skills to push the S to limits with or without the X-brace. So that isn't really scientific, unless it is a given your "same" driver had absolutely explored the car's limits without the brace.
I myself was just offering an opinion. I agree that feel is not a basis for a conclusion. However as far as scientific information, Utah posted some information that I could more easily accept as scientific fact. Just spitballing

When I installed my Cusco 3 point brace, it made for a slightly stiffer ride. It made the S a little more predictable when I go around mountain twisties.

Do any braces compromise comfort, since they kind of stiffen up any form of flexing?

If you travel on pretty much flat smooth roads you will most likely not feel a difference.
I could only dream how that must be like....

I highly doubt that an xbrace makes for a noticibly faster car around the track.

But it sure makes for a more stable car when turning on rough roads. Before I got my Muz brace, I thought someone was wrong with my car when I was turning on rough roads. The car felt very uncomposed like I wasn't planted to the ground. After adding the brace, I have much more confidence when turning on iffy roads.

Protecting the oil pan is nice, too. While I lived in Boston, a friend cracked hers open while we were driving (too fast) on a really nasty road. We hit a raised manhole cover. All the oil spilled out in a few minutes and her car was toast at 1am in 35 degree weather.

An X-brace may not translate into faster lap times, but I immediately noticed vibration reduction and a more solid feel to the front of the car after installing mine. Since most people do not track their S2000, the improvement in chassis rigidity is enough.

a great number of the racers claim that the x brace is totally useless. I'm not offering an opinion one way or the other but the people i know who race all swear its dead weight.
