Default Underneath Front Bumper - Plastic Ground Feelers

Greetings all -

We're having problems clearing the bottom of our driveway (we live on a little hill) when we drive away. The plastic feelers scrape the bottom right before hitting the road. It's practically a gutter then layers and layers of asphalt through the years. We don't have any problems backing out of the driveway, but we live on a road with a fair amount of traffic. We are thinking about having someone lay some concrete down since we are going to be adding a back-up pad anyway. But it will cost over 1k to do it properly.

Would it be alright to remove those plastic feelers? What other purpose do they have besides giving you a warning that you are about to damage the undercarriage?

Any advice would be appreciated.

If you are talking about the small flaps hanging in front of the wheel well (front and rear tires), I believe that are called spats. They are there for aerodynamic reasons to help direct air away from the wheel and wheel well at high speeds. I think some members have reported some instability without the spats at high speeds.

I'd leave them on, but I wouldn't worry much about scraping them. You'll probably notice a difference without them (from what I've read; mine are actually off right now and need to be put back on), but you probably won't notice any differnce if they're chewed up a bit.
