I seems odd that no one has got 100k on their S2000.

Probably can't stand the noise to stay in the car that long.

I support the guy coming on the forum and complaining about his car. It's a public forum and the car has some definite issues and truly is not for your average joe.

I was considering a S2000 because of the handling, style and pickup "at VTEC" but am putting it on hold till next year. I have a preordered 350Z due in within the next month. But I was so impressed with the S2000 I must have that also.

I checked out the C5 a few months back and thought the foot well has way to narrow and confining, the S2000 actually felt like it had more room in the righ spots, just no room anywhere else.
BTW the base 350HP C5 coupe can be had for less than $37K if you must have one you won't lose as much at resale time.

First of all, the oldest S2000 is only about 3 years old. I don't know many cars, let alone a sports car logging over 30K miles a year. It would be "odd" if we DID see 100K on one today.

Re: resale of a Corvette. Don't let car "saleman" talk make you think that car is a good buy. I've had two, one being the "late, great" ZR-1. And both times, the saleman gave me the crap about how I could sell the car for almost what I paid for it a couple years down the road. "B.S. TO THE POWER OF N!" Remember, he buys wholesale and sells retail. We buy retail and sell wholesale. Those two Vettes were THE biggest money losers of any car I've ever owned. THEY DO NOT HOLD THEIR VALUE!

Mike is certainly entitled to not like the S2000 and to prefer the Corvette.

It's my understanding that many Z06 owners are having significant problems. In fact, I think Chevy had to step forward and admit that the cars were burning oil excessively and cuasing the motors to go.
First of all if you are going to come into a debate do so with current information please. Like j2000 said, he went to the dealer intent on a Z06 and then decided against it because the two on the lot were dealer buybacks for oil consumption. He also said they were 2001 models. If any of you bashing the Vette would take the time to actually research it you would learn that GM redesigned the piston ring seals for 2002. What does that mean? No more oil consumption.

But please, please, please for the love of all things holy stop this utter nonsense about a lack of torque in the S.
This is your opinion, and I appreciate it, but not everyone feels the same way as you. It is not nonsense to some, it is actually quite apparent and a big disappointment to many. I like the S2000 very much for what it is but overall it DOES have a lack of torque. Then again this doesn't make it a "bad" car or take anything away from what it is. It is just that many people on this board cannot accept a different opinon from their own and take it as a personal insult if someone says anything negative about their "baby."

3500 miles may not be long enough for an average driver to learn the S2K. Go rag the hell out of it for a weekend...take it to an AutoX. Minimal VTEC usually translates into minimal fun.

Touche. Something *wierd* (but perhaps shared by more than myself on these boards) is this: I purchased my S2000 from CarMax last November '01. It was first sold new to some initial owner...that same year '01 just in March. Ahem...now for the kicker -- in that time, from March to November, I became the 3rd owner of this automobile and I purchased it with only 3K miles on the odo.

That says to me that folks had previously purchased (or sold) it for one of a couple likely reasons:
-- They thought it was "cute"...then found out it was was a stiff-riding performer.
-- They thought it was gonna be a monster V8-killer...and it proved only to be a V8-killer
-- They couldn't hang with the payments...it happens...

Me? (and this is *just* me)...I luv the car...

Man, what amazes me about this and many other threads here these days is that when someone says they don't like the S2000, or they are going to sell it or whatever, that people feel the need to rag on them endlesssly. What's the point of that??

THRILLR bought the wrong car...big deal! I have daydreams of a Z06 myself...would that make me a pariah?

Seriously, it's a car folks. Why must some people feel like if someone doesn't like it that they have commited treason? ALL cars have target audiences, not just the S2000. Sometimes people make the wrong decisions, big deal. Do you think it makes sense to rag on them for that?

Man, I think it's a shame that people do this to others, which may explain something else going on around here, but hey, what do I know.

Relax, it's a car, it's not a way of life, it's not a cult...it's a car. People have different tastes and needs in a performance vehicle..big deal. Get over it...

THRILLR, good luck to you, bro. I look forward to hearing about your experiences with the Z. I may even join you one day, I totally admire that car. Good luck...
