The editor felt that the addition of FI overstressed the S2000, particularily the drive train, which was not designed to handle the additional power.

The editor is correct. Life is all about trade-offs. You can't upgrade power without upgrading the parts that put it to the ground.

Hmmmm ... IMO that's pretty common knowledge around here (if you've read many posts from people with FI). Always trade-offs when adding 30% more power to your car ...

I rather doubt that the R&T article is common knowledge passed on to any customers over at Comptech.

That's why my original post said "common knowledge around here if you've read many posts blah blah..". I couldn't fathom buying a SC without doing some research first, but you're right, there are people who probably do. And I'm sure Comptech doesn't give them the inside info about driveling issues (as you mentioned) ...
