Update on custom badge design to replace stock Honda badges
Here's my pair of pennies (how many dracmas is that Greg?):
I vote for a dragon design for the same reasons as above. However, the dragon should be kept very simple, eg. little detail. Like the Ferrari horse simply being all black, the dragon should have as little detail as possible while still being able to tell what it is. I very much like the idea of putting the badge on the radio door or center console door too. Or even something to put above or below the "S2000" badge on the sides. I would still be willing to replace one of the front or rear badges, but not both (the new black chrome kit is so cool). Again, silver/minimal color dragon on a black/neutral background would be beautiful. Hope this helps and doesn't just waste bandwidth.

I think that you are all forgetting what the S2000 stands for. It is a sign of Honda's technological advancement, it was a 50th anniversary present, it holds strong ties to the S800. Now, lets look at the S2000 rather than an animal, as a symbol of Honda's acheivements in the last 50 years in the car industry. Use that and create a badge that is more of a depiction of Honda's intentions for the car than our own personal opinions. The car is a statement, the badge does not need to be one also, it just needs to reflect the idea behind the car. It is like a limited edition badge, or a way of showing that this is not just a typical Honda, it's like the Type R of all Type R's. When the badges are being designed, keep in ming the heritage of the car. it may be a show what Honda can do, but they have heritage too.

My vote is for utmost simplicity. The main focus, "S", seems dead on. As a side note, it is important to me that the quality of the materials are excellent so that the badges look good for years to come. Many plastic/metal foil badges that are 8 - 10 yrs old flake and look like crap.
I would not want any type of animal.
S2Krob's suggestion about the S800 is great. Can we do a modern rendition of this classic badge?

Need an idea for a dragon, I know Sisqo from the singing group Dru Hill has a dragon as their logo. The logo isn't too "sporty" looking but it is a good idea of a simple dragon that is done in silhouette. When you see it, you don't see anything else but a dragon.
For those that don't know....Sisqo is the guy that sang last summer's hit song, "the Thong song"...you know "let meeee seeeee that thoooong, that thong, thong, thong, thong..."

It's payday and I got a couple cents to throw in.
I agree with those favoring the technology theme over the animal theme and I agree with those favoring something classicly understated in lieu of overstated.
The first thing mentioned by every automobile writer is the S2000's red line. That's what makes it unique in the car production world.
Perhaps we should be thinking of a way to show that uniqueness in the symbol. the "S" is cool, the circle with red background (the start button) is cool, and the digital tach at the 9k limit is cool. You get my drift. Perhaps there's a way to mix these elements into a badge that's cool.

I find the whole idea to be rather interesting. Honda's refusal to deal with a group of dedicated and loyal owners has led them to take ownership of the brand away from Honda by designing their own emblem. I would think that the generally negative attitude toward Honda proper would get some rise out of them yet they stay silent.
IMO they are missing an opportunity to forge a solid relationship with their customers and build repeat business. The door is wide open but they won't walk through. Am I the only one that's disappointed in them as a company?
