This is just a theory on the shiftknob thing. I've been to a huge auto auction in Vegas numerous times where there are litterally hundreds of cars parked. All of them are unlocked and all of them have the keys in them (gated parking lot). Many times I'll see shiftknobs missing and I figure it's some freaking hood rats that get in there and that's about all they can really fit in their pockets and walk out the door with. So maybe the car came from one of these auctions and that was the case. Someone may have thrown some generic dinky donk shift knob on there just so there was something there. Just a stab in the dark : /

I have seen a few s2000's at dealerships w/o the shiftknobs.

Not sure if its a thing for theft of the car, or theft of the knob... but seems like a common thing.

dealerships DO remove the shift knob so the ricers dont steal it to add 10hp and an extra gear to their mom's civic.
edit: i've also seen dealership remove hole plugs to keep them from getting ripped off and antennaes so that the celica/fairlady/evo owners dont rip them off

Im back from the dealer.

I gave that 800 miles S a spin. it was nothing out of ordinary. so.. i think the car was good.

My mistake on typing 25k. They were actually asking 25k9. and.. I was able to bring them down to 25k1 ..not the best number i want to hear. but i think i could live with that.

so, I left the deposit. but not feeling the happiness..

yes, 25k1 plus tax and those bs fees

06 laguna blue with 850 miles

The '06 deal sounds almost too good. Investigate further. When I bought my car, it was unfortunately sitting on the showroom floor missing the shift knob as well. Only 12 miles on it though.
