the decision is really tough because i dont plan on getting a new car for about 4 years, maybe a little longer. so whatever I do i'll get good use out of it.
some say get the reflash, yet others say dont bother, just go FI

i had the same dilemma a week ago, and i chose to make it look better, i'm going to be ordering the ASM FRP front bumper, BBS LM's 18's, and Bride vios 3 seats by end of the month, i chose looks b/c i thought the S2000 is pretty fast as it is already, and if i wanted to go faster i have my M3 to play with , also i'm not doing anything 2 the M3 cause i don't want to void warrenty, maintenance for that sh*t is expensive

If you are upgrading your ride, save the money an put it towards the the M3.
Anything you add to the S will not only burn the actual cash spent, but also lower the resale value of your car.
Spend 4k now on upgrades, plus lose 2k on resale, vs. 6k closer to the M3.

An M3 with proper options runs quite expensive as a new car. As a used car ... you run into the trouble of higher maintenance costs compared to an S. Besides, chances are if a person's itching to modify an S, he probably would be itching to modify an M3 as well, which actually is more expensive to mod ...

Just my idea, but do this:

It will cost you about $200, and will do as much for your performance as you can do without spending thousands. Plus, these mods are reversible in a weekend when you wan to sell. FI is great, but it is for those who want to keep their cars for a good while.
And why do you want an M3? Have you driven one of them? They drive like a concrete block, IMO. So before you lay out your long range plans to get an M3, drive one.
As for ay appearance mods, kep them to a minimum if you have plans to trade in the fairly near future. You'll get more for your s2k if it has stock looks, too. And keep your car well detailed, so it will look good when you want to sell.
Very recently, I decided that I wanted another sports car. I also discovered that my '01 s2k with 29K miles wasn''t really worth much. It was worth more to me, so I just kept it. Now, I've got two good sports cars.
