Default Use of Convertible Handle

I wanted to use the handle on the center of the convertible. A few days ago, it started to rain in traffic. I wanted to close the top, but i can't while we are moving. My friend was with me, and were going about 5mph, so he could have just used the handle to close the top manually. I didn't let him coz I wasn't sure if it would mess anything up.

I don't have the Manual for the car, so I'm not sure. Is it safe to close the top manually using the handle between the latches?

- I THINK the handle is for manually opening/closing the soft top when its not working properly

I did the trick where you cut the wire underneath the dash on the passenger side and did not have to stop to put up the top.

it is covered in the manual, you have to disconnect the power to the top motor first, it is in case the top motor fails, not for use in rain or while moving. There is a mod you can do to let you put the top up whil moving though
