Default Used 2000 S2000

I'm seriously considering purchasing an s2000.

year: 2000
milage: ~20000 (on the odometer; need to verify with CARFAX or other means)
price: $19000
everything in stock form

the car visually is in a very, very clean condition. i'll have a mechanic check it out, but when i test drove it everything seemed to work well. i'm strapped for cash, but i thought this was a good buy. the only concern i have is that it is an older car, for a lot of money... i've never spent more than 10K on a car...

I've seen some with this many miles for a little bit less- as long as it's mechanically sound and you like it- the it's worth the cash

It seems only a little high maybe you could talk him down to 18k

I'm no expert, but my impression is that while you can find cheaper, the car will likely be in less than "very, very clean" condition with such low mileage.

If you're strapped for cash, perhaps you're better off looking at 75k mile examples that probably have some flaws.

But for only 20k miles and in the condition you mention, I'd guess $18k to $19k is about right. KBB says $17.5k for private party, $19.7k from a dealer.

this is actually not a very good deal.......unless you live in some remote place where S2000's are hard to come by....and it's GPW so more rare....and you really want a MY00 for some reason.

The price seems in line if the car is in excellent condition. Tires are in good shape, interior clean etc.... You may get it a little cheaper, The miles are what make that car worth more than most 2000 s2000's. If you like it and drove it, buy it. Remember, it can't hurt to ask for a lower price. good luck. For comparison, check out autotrader.com and compare to some other cars in your area.

it's from a private owner. i drove it, and absolutely loved it. i'm just concerned that it is relatively old, and it's a lot of money.
