Default used Stook ?'s

hey guys ( and gals ). like my sig says I have a 2001 CL-S right now. My friend has a Stook, but he just got his fiancee pregnant so he wants to get rid of it for something with a back seat. As is right now we both want to take over each others payments and trade cars. This should be a done deal by Friday. I just want to post so maybe you guys can give me some advice on little things to look out for. It is a 2000 model, it's gray on red, it has 17" Konig Rhythms with brand new Yokahamas. He also has an Apexi V-AFC that was installed at a shop in Fl. It was dynoed when installed and he claims about 8-10 hp. I'm new to this car but that sounds a little high to me. When I checked out the air/fuel ratio on the V-AFC it show that the A/F ratio is quite a bit leaner than stock. the VTEC switches at 6800 and then back again at 6700. I know the clutch was replaced about 7000 miles ago. If there is anything else I should look for let me know please. I want to be a proud happy Stook owner very soon. btw it has 24500 miles right now.

Some have had success leaning out the fuel mixture, 8-10HP, who knows. It doesn't sound too far off. You'd need to spend a lot of time at the dyno to get the right mixture.

I did race a yellow 2001 Stook and beat it Sat. night. but I thought it might just be driving style. I know how how hard it can be to launch. maybe 8-10 hp is reasonable but I know that Mugen only got 15 out of theirs and they did alot more than a V-AFC. Also, I plan on S/Cing it before to long. what other mods would be recommended as a preventitive measure so I don't kill the thing with the extra power. I know about the diff and clutch but does this car have any other weak links to look out for?

Hmm, 6700 seems about 1k too high for VTEC, are you sure about that figure? As for the 8-10 hp figure, it's doable - likely that was the max HP gain, not the gain at peak HP...

OK I went to get the setting from his wife and the dyno sheet. VTEC switches at 5800 and back at 5700. my bad. he is showing 212.2 hp at the wheels @8600 rpms. I don't know if this is a great number or not. It sounds pretty damn good to me. my CL-S only puts 204 to the ground albeit with a lot more torque. let me know how this number sounds. I forgot what the torque was but I want to say it said 141. I don't know the rpm. I'll try to get more numbers for sure.

That looks pretty healthy. Have a look over in the Under The Hood forum for lots of talk about the V-AFC and some dyno charts...

drogers, maybe with the continual use of an eye rolling icon you will subtly diminish the use of the term 'Stook'. Either that or just give yourself a high number of posts/day.

I joined this forum before I bought the car in order to get some information on the details of the car that only a Stook owner would know. things that would get overlooked by other people. The paperwork is in the process of being completed at the moment. If all goes well I will own his S2K by this weekend. PLease don't give me the and thnk just another punk kid who WANTS a Stook but will never have one. Yes, I'm young (21), no I don't own one right now. I hope that instead of doubting me you can be helpful and give any advise you may have before I purchase this car
