What a terrible afternoon! I have had my car for a month now (dropped the first payment in the mail this morning actully) and it has rained 90% of the time here since I've had it. Well, I finally made it to 570 miles on the odometer this weekend and only 30 miles from the magic VTEC TIME! Well, I leave work at 3pm today because it is a beautiful 65 degrees and sunny and I want to go have some fun. I race home, go out to the garage and guess what? A FLAT TIRE!!! I was SO pissed. I called firestone to see about the warranty and they were very rude (I called two different places by the way) and wanted to charge me to fix it. Ended up taking it to Discount Tire where they really take care of their customers. Finally got home a few minutes ago and put the tire back on but now I have to finish up some work I brought home and dont have time to drive.... So close but so far away. Thanks for listening as I'm sure you can feel my pain.

Everything will be ok and completely forgotten once VTEC engages. Just be gentle with her. Bring her up slowly to redline. 600=6K, 700=7K,800=8K,900=9K then bounce the rev limiter.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I had a 99 Prelude SH before this and have driven broken in S2K's and am having VTEC withdrawl.

I'm with krazik!!!!

The only reason I was able to behave was because it rained 46 out of the first 48 hours I had mine. Sunday was beautiful (44 degrees!) so I washed it and went for a long cruise (top down of course). Long enough to hit that 600 mile mark. I checked the oil (perfect!) and let 'er rip. If the valves didn't seat right after 600 miles, the next few hundred probably don't mean much. All my justification for needing to hit 9 grand and see what she will do.

Anyway, I am very impressed. Makes the del Sol seem like a Miata (sorry Miata guys!)

Hey krazik!

That's the way I broke my S2000 in...

VTEC was on right off the lot...

First track day before 1000 miles, "break-in" oil still in the engine. That day Greg, Kahled and I were having some serious fun at GingerMan. Sure I was short shifting (7400rpm) but it was still a blast.

I did the same thing, first time I VTECed I went all the way to 9k! You might say you won't, but once you get it going it's too tempting not to!

Congrats! Yeah, it's been wet, but you never complain about the rain in Texas. I bet I have washed my car at LEAST once a week with all the rain. Hoping for good weather for our hill country S2K outing at the end of the month. Join us and I know that we will help you into the magic land of VTEC. By the way, 9000rpm at 420 miles!
