V-AFC Problem... PLEASE HELP!!!
PM Gernby...he gave some really solid advice on VAFC settings. There is a way to set it so the ECU controlls the car up to a certain RPM, then the VAFC takes over. Give him a shout...pretyt friendly guy...not as friendly as Xviper (wasssup DAVE), but really helpfull.
I don't have direct knowledge of the VAFC, but I have some experience with the Vortech computer boxes.
If you have "initialized" the VAFC, I assume that the ECU basically sees nothing there. Since you get a check engine light, it might be safe to say that the ECU is NOT getting one or more signals. This can be led back to a bad VAFC (possible but unlikely), bad harness or you have not fully mated one or more of the plugs.
I know it would tedious, but can you confirm the continuity of all your harness wires and ends? Also, can you confirm that the harness has all its wires coming and going to the correct pins?

You should disconnect the harness then check all your connections again then make sure you tape up everything that is bare check all the other wires in the harness even if you didn't splice into thme also, if anything is bare just tape it up for precautions then put it back together.
what's up man...i had the exact same problem about a few months ago and have since not installed my vafc again...has your car stalled out also?...i bought a used vafc and got a harness from a board member and believe i did the connections correctly(to the harness) but it still showed the CEL,idled high and then stalled out...does anyone have the instructions for the harness?like the exact wires to put together?...and how will we know if the vafc is defective - plug it into another car?...thanks i plan to take up the vafc task again
I had the VAFC on my old hybrid and I experience a very similar problem with the idle and stalling. It came down to two components (one of which I doubt you're seeing) One (probably does not apply) was my TPS sensor was re-installed incorrectly (engine swap TPS are not supposed to be removabe, direct quote from Honda...they are) Two my wiring harness was grounding out due to an extremely small hole in the sheilding when we installed it. This was dropping the signal from my IAC and thus the car never thought it was "warm" a quick re-install of the harness (painfully careful) and replacement of my TPS and she purrs like a tiger. Check your connections and the load with a voltmeter throughout your harness until you find the signal loss that should help you isolate the problem. Hope that helps!
