Default v-tec response?

Hi guys, I thought this place would be the best to post this topic.

My first vtec car was integra gs-r, and second is s2k ap2. now, whenever I get in vtec and shift very near redline, I manage to stay in vtec. But when I do, car doesnt do much for about 2 seconds. It just makes vtec sound and I feel the engine working hard, but it seems like the car is in neutral

is this normal?

thanks guys

I do not experience this, but it does sound like the clutch delay valve. It takes shock off of the tranny and differential. Some peope hate it and cant stand it, but then there are people like me that never really feel it. I guess its all in your shifting technique.

i know exactly what you're talking about. i have an ap1, so my problem wasn't the CDV. i get back on the gas too quickly and that's causing some slip with my OEM clutch disc with close to 60k miles on it.

In addition to giving the driveline a cushon, the CDV also lets the clutch slip enough so that the car does not drop out of VTEC after a 1-2 shift at redline. Both the CDV and the heavier flywheel help.

The CDV (and flywheel) also give the driver more time to catch a missed shift before the revs reach the level that tends to bend the exhaust valves.

Like most of the changes made to the car over the years, the CDV addresses a number of issues, both by itself, and in concert with other changes.

Well, in your case it's certainly not due to a CDV.
Your clutch may be on the way out.

yup. although here's the thing...

last week, i was cruising on the highway in 6th, i stepped on it, and my clutch definitely slipped. my rpms went from 4-6k rpm and i went nowhere. i babied the car back home that day, but since then, i haven't experienced any slipping since. and today, i went out for some spirited driving, vtec'ing through 1,2 and 3 on some occasions without any slip. hmmmm, oh well, i guess i'll keep it for as long as it wants to

red, is it recommended to change the PP along with the disc? i feel like my PP is ok.
