Spoke with metal fabricator that happens to own an S2000. I explained that a Valentine one might be well suited to be mounted right in front of the wind deflector on top the "secret" compartment. I explained that it would take a special bracket. He said if I could design it, he would make it. Of course you would need the optional "hidden" display.

Valentine owners your input would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds great to me.

Mines currently mounted directly under the rear veiw mirror and I like it there but the location your looking at could provide some interesting results!

Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Mack

Have yet to mount my remote anywhere, how do you like your stearing column location?

Keep us posted on your progress and results. I really like the idea of your location for the main unit if it performs well there. I think it would be less obvious to thieves and Officer Bob.

I didn't use a bracket per se. I used a lil' velcro and a hobby kit box from Radio Shack to prop the main unit up a little higher (mainly to clear the rear wind deflector). I get a clear line of sight to the front (the unit is just below parallel with the rear-view mirror) and to the rear when the boot is not on.

The results are here:

I hijacked the idea from here:

but have not mounted the V1 in another casing just yet. Personally, I like Clark's idea here:

Thats a really great install. A question though. From the picture, it almost looks like the detector is at a down angle towards the front of the car. Is it? How is the dectection?

I'm definitely down with a bracket in this location. It would also make sense to have the wind screen tinted so Office Bob et al wouldn't be able to see the unit...but I know that some kinds of tint prevents the V1's antenna from working properly. Could someone tell me what kind of tint WOULD work?

Also, the bracket would have to be such that the unit was easily removable by me (the driver) but not easily (the thief), the V1 is the last thing I want to have stolen while I run into 711 for a six pack!

Seriously, I'm very interested in this set up...keep us posted on progress!!

Will Do. I was lookng at my S2K today and there may be enough room between the "secret" compartment lid and the
housing to wedge brackets. I am thinking 3 legs for rigidity. You would simply lift up the "secret" compartment lid and it's off...throw in in the trunk. I will keep everyone updated from time to time. Pics when done.
