I love my V1.... mines hardwired. Either the V1 or the Bel STI.... the 2 best out there.

V1 has higher sensitivity, but only slightly. But the 9500ix has much more features including a gps based lockout feature thats great for around town driving. The difference in detection is at most a .5-1 sec difference in the real world....which may or may not be worth it for some people. With that said, I recently sold my V1 w/o pop and kept my 9500i. I'm really growing attached to the 9500i's versatility. It has excellent abilities/features in the city as well as amazing range on the highway (which is only slightly less sensitive than a v1).

For everyday driving: 9500i
For Highway Cruising: V1

with your assessment, however, since both units are priced about the same ($400), I want the best performance possible under all conditions. Under some conditions the V1 is slightly better (as you point out) than the 9500i, but in others, the difference is significant (which may be the difference between ticket or no-ticket). These tests are performed by a reputable group and the data speaks for itself. http://www.guysoflidar.com/august-2007/rad...ector-test.html
As for the Bel Sti ($500), it comes in below the 9500i. The only thing it has going for it is VG-2 & Spectre IV immunity (for those Virginia owners).

How is it that this same subject comes up every week. This is a time when I expect to see the "use the search" comment.

Isn't the STi the same internals as the 8500?

I know Passport owns Bell.

[QUOTE=98TypeR#21,Jul 22 2008, 06:02 AM] The only potential downside is your comment about your 8500 being too noisy.

[QUOTE=takeshi,Jul 23 2008, 09:33 AM] Personally, I prefer top performance in all conditions and to be alerted to all possible sources.

Yes I believe it is.... the only benefit over the 8500 is that the new Bel STI is completely undetectable, even to spectre 3, which here in VA, is a good thing.
