Default Value of a rebuilt s2000

A guy near my house has a 2002 s2k with 66,000 miles on it for sale. the car appears to be in perfect condition and drives excellent. it also has the hard top option. the car was declared a salvage in 2003 and but now has a clear MD title. The carfax report shows a salvage rebuilt history though. Anyone know what a fair value for this might be.

Thanks for the help,

Chris

I'd say 4k tops.

But personally, I'd stay away. Not worth it.

in order for it to have been totaled enough to warrent being labeled a salvage title the damage would have had to exceed 75% of the car's value when it was only a year old. THATS alot of damage!

good info. i was wary of it fromt the start. he was asking 14500 for it. i thought that was a lot, and now I think its ridiculous. too bad, because the car looks awesome, but who knows whats under all those newly painted panels...

there are many ways to salvage a car : collision, fire, theft, water. etc... find out what originally totaled it out and research what type of headaches are assoicated with it. if you want a track car, as long as the frame and suspension are straight. it does what it needs to do.

That price is silly.

I really like the car and am willing to buy it for the right price. The fact that it is rebuilt only really bothers me due to resale value. I dont want to buy a car that I wont be able to sell for a normal loss. What would be a fair price to pay for a car like this?

14,5? No way. That is far too much. Also that 4K offer is unreal too.

Take the NADA value and divide by 2 and that would be a reasonable offer.
