Values will stop falling
its nice to know that my car may hold it value, but I do not plan to sell my car EVER!. I'm not just saying it now because I love that much. I just don't like the thought of buying a car for so much and end up selling it for so much less. That is why I never sell my old car or any of the stuff that I buy. if it is time to buy a new car, I would rather keep my current s2000 and get on with a new purchase. No trade in nothing. That just who I am. If it wasn't for the thieves who stole my first Honda civic sedan, it would still be in my family for my sister to drive.
I'm just grateful for the countless owners who have taken extensive care of their cars. Should i sell my car, at least i'll take solace in knowing that there will be ample cars in the future in excellent condition to choose from. and i don't think this car will ever become the civic of the honda car culture, it's just way to expensive to fix and mod compared to the civic. I'll even bet that some owners who went mod crazy will at some point want to take it back to its original form.

Even if the resale value holds, it won't matter to me because I am going to keep my Stacey for as long as she runs.

It's true. Same thing happened with the Honda Prelude. Now that it's been out of production since 2001...people are still asking over $10,000 for nice 2000 and 2001's with low mileage and good body condition.
Even early '90's Preludes (4th gen) that have been maintained, well kept with lower miles are going for over $5,000. I can't see the value of a well kept, mint looking S2000 with lower miles going much under $10K for the next 5-10 years, especially with production being ended this year.

It could be that rather than expecting any appreciation it may be more reasonable to expect that the S2000 will depreciate way below the average for simularly priced autos when new. This is total speculation but it could also be that in 10yrs, all simularly maintained and milaged cars regardless of MY will have the same resell value. As already mentioned, this is only speculation and none of us really knows what the future holds for this car. At present this guess is as good as any other guess. It could be right or it could be totally wrong.
Here's the bright side- Unlike most autos, we have a CHANCE at minimal loss and at best, no loss at all for those who bought used to begin with.
