Default Values will stop falling

I'm sure that many of you folks will not agree with this, but these cars are about to start to hold their value! There will be fewer and fewer nice S2000's out there and the nice ones with low mileage will be continue to bring top dollar. The value slide has already slowed. New 09's are harder and harder to find and most dealers are starting to discount less.
As the economy starts to improve and people stop low balling their cars because of cash needs you will see that even nice 00 and 01's without extra high mileage will hold somewhere between 12K to 14K and all the other model years will stop there and within a few more years the model year will mean less and less with the condition being the deciding factor on the value of our cars. Within five years you could see a 06 with 75K not bring any more then a 00 with 35K on it.
They may never be an investment, but if you don't trash and Mod it to death they won't lose a lot and when you consider the fun factor they will be well worth owning one.
Wait and see!!!

Too bad for everyone here. Who doesn't mod it to death?

I don't see these cars going up in value. Maybe a better market, but not added blue book value.

Maybe in 50 years time, when there are hardly any left, and you have a pristine one.

We will see, but if you are correct, it will be quite a while I think.

I agree. When I see low mileage 996 Twin Turbo Porsches going for 30-45K for nice ones.. well it doesn't inspire much confidence that an S2000 will ever be worth more than 15K. I think its resale will be comparable to an FD RX7. 8K for shitty ones, 9-12K for "regular/good" ones and high teens for pristine cars.

Doesn't much matter to me - I love my S and plan on keeping it for quite a while

As we approach the end of the year, IF there is a glut of buyers for the '09 and they become unavailable, the shift will be to new or low milage 08's then after that, low milage any MY. New car buyers will set the trend here. No one knows what the actual interest may be but, I suspect that the sooner the 09's go, the better for all current owners. If at the end of the year, these cars are still on the dealers lots and selling below MSRP, we can assume that there is nothing special about this car at re-sale and can count on relatively low prices for at least for the coming year.
