Default valve adjustment

I'm doing a valve adjustment at the moment. I have a quick question. It is really hard to determine when enough 'minimal drag' is necessary. So my question is this, Would it be ok to be able to stick .010 into the exhaust side and .011 not into the gap? Would this be a good measure to go by? and the same logic with the intake, .008 goes in and .009 dosen't.

I hope this makes sense??

Another question, is it ok to tighten the valves too much? what is the result of this? and what if you drive w/ loose vavles? what would the result of that be?

thanks in advance.

Too tight keeps the valve from fully closing and is unacceptable. A valve that doesn't fully seat will overheat. A little loose is noisy but OK. Within limits, a loose valve is a happy valve.

Ok, i just finished my valve adjustment. When I rev the car I hear a slight tick... it is a small noise, but if you do a valve adjustment would there be any valves noise? or is small valve noise normal?

-also, Can you tell if you have over tightened a valve? Would that make a sound simliar to loose valves?

I got this suggestion off of the Honda VFR board for adjusting valves.
"It should feel like putting the feeler gauge in the middle of a thick book of yellow pages" " Light drag"
