Can anyone in the UK Southampton area give me a hand with my valve clearances for a bit of cash? i don’t have all the tools needed and would appreciate a bit of help , thanks

 

The "tools" consist of bent feeler gauges, a screw driver, and small wrench/spanner (or a valve adjustment tool that serves as both the screwdriver and wrench). Max cost is maybe US$30 and not unique to North America.

Team effort is highly recommended though. Misery loves company and your back will ache for days from bending over the engine. Plan on all new gaskets as these turn to granite after all these years (had to drive some of the coil gaskets out with a rod and hammer) and, heck, put in new spark plugs while the old ones are out (makes turning over the engine easier).

That is a great way to learn if someone can do it with you, once you see it done you may likely learn to do it yourself later down the road. Tools are easy to find.
