Velcro on the Dashboard
Can anyone recommend a brand of velcro tape or adhesive that will stick to the dashboard? I tried the stuff from Home Depot but it just won't hold. I did clean the dash w/ alcohol first so that's not the problem.
I really don't want to drill holes if I can possibly avoid it.
Cheers

Velcro brand velcro makes industrial strength velcro. Both the adhesive backing and the tension strength of the velcro are industrial strength.
This stuff works beautifully, I've been testing the tonneau cover I designed at speeds up to 131 mph (so far) and the velcro has yet to give. Hell I didn't even clean the dashboard with alcohol like you did, all I did was dust it with a Pledge wipe.
You can get this velcro from a fabric store, they come in rolls and as pre-cut tabs in different shapes and sizes. The Velcro brand also makes a gray colored velcro that matches our black interiors fairly well, but if you have red interior don't fret....you can paint velcro with water-based paints, or better yet, you can dye velcro. I got mine from Jo-Ann Fabrics.
It only get's ugly when you try to remove the velcro (after it has sat in heat and/or the sun), because of the adhesive backing. However, it cleans up with a little elbow grease and one of the citrus cleaners (I use Goo Gone).
Sorry so long, but hope I helped.

Out of curiousity... what are you trying to mount? Velcro may not be the only mounting choice. And with some of the ingenious things I've seen people come up with on this forum you'd probably get some pretty good ideas besides drilling.
Just a suggestion.
