have you guys running vented hoods noticed a decrease in hot weather bogging? i'm thinking it'll reduce my underhood temps and decrease the hot weather bogging i experienced after installing my FIPK, but am i wrong?
also do you have to be careful with a vented hood in the rain or anything like that? or do you guys just drive it like normal? i'm thinking i shouldn't have to worry about anything because some cars come with OEM vented hoods, but just making sure.
also, what is the ratio of CF hoods installed: CF hoods fading/yellowing/whatever?
I have been thinking about one to stop my belt squeal at 8,000 RPM's on the SC. I just worry about how they fit and align. I have seen a few CF hoods that just don't line up correctly.
I've logged some serious street time on my AEM EMS, and I've noticed significant drops in under hood temps with the hood vents. As far as rain, you get a great deal of water up under the hood from the airflow under the car...I have my ITB's positioned just under and inside my hood vents, and I've noticed zero weather related issues.
FYI, with hood vents, I've noticed my IAT's hover between 8 and 10 degrees above ambient while cruising on the highway, and sit about 30 above ambient in total stop and go traffic. That is great improvement over stock, where IAT's would creep up to almost 70 degrees above ambient on a hot summer sitting in traffic.
I've had the MG style Seibon for about a year now. No yellowing. Fitment is not bad, but not perfect.
Weather doesn't seem to affect anything underhood. I added the F5 fujita CAI at the same time so I have a combination of heat bog fixes going on at the same time.
When sitting still you can see the heat rise out of the vents --> SUPACOOL!
Vent hood does makes alot of different when it come to heat-soak. I don't drive my S in the rain so i don't really know how the rain come in play. Best way to find out is to wash your S.
Oh-yeah...i like how the heat rise out of the vents too when sitting at the lights.
Well, from what I understand as long as the filter is not totally submerged you will be fine. My friend's jeep has the k&n and the filter just sits uncovered in the engine bay and gets all kinds of crud on it just from regular driving and it seems fine.
My Fujita sits right in front of the passenger side tire in the bumper and stays pretty clean.
