Vin Number Question
i have a question about vin numbers. i'm about to purchase a used car and i got the vin from the guy i'm buying the car from. what is included with the vin number about the car's data? i have heard accidents for one? anything else that it includes? and also what doesn't it include? thanks in advance everyone!!!
The VIN is a unique identifier for the vehicle. It includes inormation about where the car was manufactured and what production number it is for that model year.
It does not contain any information about accidents or any other event after the car was built.

carfax is a way to find out if it has been in an accident but only if it was claimed through insurance
CAr fax does shop services. If it was taken to the Honda dealer that was recorded but It wont say for what (or mine didn't) just how many times it was taken in. An oil change will count on that so don't assume it was bad.

look for vin badge on car's body parts, for example, if you open the trunk, the vin badge for the rear bumper would be right there, you won't miss it, as well as the trunk lid's, so if any of those are missing, then those parts have been replaced in the past, which might indicate a rear end accident, same goes with front bumper and doors
