Anyway, you don't have to spend a fortune for a good set of summer tires. I drive on Kumho 712's. They cost me $350 for the set: 245 rears and 205 fronts.

They're not as sticky as S02's, but they're good tires (and certainly a hell of a lot better than VISA's): 80% of the performance for about 50% of the price is the usual quote about the Kumho's. [/QUOTE

I don't want to get in a a debate over which tires are better. Seeing that Frycrow has never driven an S with the OEM tires, I think it's a good idea to try the OEM's, at least on a ride along with another owner. Then he can have a baseline performance "feel" to go by. I've driven many S's with Non- S02's, Including the S03's, BFG KD's, Kumho 712's, Michelin Pilots, and several non- performance tires Such as Frycrow's Visa's. After every test drive, I find the S02's to be the most confidence inspiring, In the dry, on non-worn tires. As it's been said before, S02's suck when worn or cold and can wear pretty rapidly.

I would have to say the worst handling S I have driven had S02's on the front, and a set of Bridgstone Eager M+S on the rear. All of the cars with missmatched tires front/rear drive poorly, Oversteer central. The rear of the car just doesn't have the traction.

Indeed they are made by Falken.. They aren't horribly bad, but they are pretty much Falken's cheap end.. They sell for about 50-70 dollars a piece. I put them on my 300ZX before I sold it... I found that they handled pretty good, not as good as my prior yokohamas but for the price you couldn't beat them.

I too am everywhere you want to be. Just got my MY01 last week, and found a fine set of Visa's on it.

Oh god, these tires are terrible. The backend doesn't stick at all, and they squeal like a little girl around corners. Oh yeah, the road noise is BAD.

I'm sticking a couple of Yokohama ES100's on the back that I used briefly last summer on my RSX, and have a couple on order for the front.

Can't wait till next week.
