Well I was one of 5 people (4 cars) that made it up to Comptech today to check out the facilities and talk to Mike, the GM there. Unfortunately Marcus, Clifford and a few others couldn't make it, but there's always next time.

Some quick impressions of the whole event. Mike was really helpful in answering and explaining any questions we had about *anything*.The people there eat, live and breath cars, and it shows. The place itself is a class setup, machine shops, lifts, dynos, race cars, race engines and cars being developed and/or fitted... one example being a yellow supercharged/etc NSX for Indy driver Paul Tracy, nice.

Onto the S/C S2000. I was fortunate to get a passenger seat for a test drive and this car is deceptively fast compared to what we're use to.
Instead of the usual VTEC transition we all know, the additional torque the S/C puts out on the lowend makes a much smoother transition into greater VTEC torque. What this creates is and overall smoother, torquer, and faster car than a stock S2000 through the entire curve. Cruising around on the lowend proved to be a no hiccup event, it drives just as sedately as it did before (albeit with more torque/hp a blip away).

To hear what these people go through developing and testing these units, there's no doubt in my mind that you are getting a quality product that will provide years and years of enjoyment. I know the next time I visit Comptech, it'll be to have one installed.

Well worth the visit and thanks to those who arranged it!

Guys, this is one performance mod that I think is seriously worth investing in.

I am convinced the performance will be there, however, there are two big issues which I need to overcome.

1. what doe adding the comptech do to warranties - has anyone investigated this?
2. what does adding the SC do to insurance premiums - I have been advised in Oz that I can expect something in the order of a 50-75% premium hike?.

Anybody with any experience out there??

it was great seeing you guys today. a bit nippy for the morning/afternoon drives, but nonetheless a super experience at comptech. looking forward to the upgrades--just don't know when the funds will be available for all the goodies!

we gotta do that again!

1. It voids it on the engine, drive train, and probably the supension. What do you expect?!?! I am tired of this damned question being asked. Not to mention Mike already commented on this.
It is a simple as this.
- It voids the honda warrenty, you might get lucky and find a cool dealer, but face it. Chances are if you fvck up your engine, it is your problem.
- Comptech will warrenty their product, and any damage that you can prove it caused. Now there in-lies the problem. You have to show Comptech was at fault. Mike from Comptech seems to be a straight forward guy, and I suspect he/they will be reasonable if you have a valid claim. But just like Honda, they aren't going to warrenty any shumck who was an engine problem that can't be reasonable related to their product.

There you go. If you have anymore questions, contact Honda & Comptech. And post if you find anything new out. Otherwise please stop asking. The answer isn't going to change.

Why the hell would you tell them? Do you tell them about every mod you install on the car? I don't sure as hell don't, and I sure haven't ever seen a policy with special exceptions for mods. Or even been asked by an insurance agent. Have you?

Just another KraZiK rant.

Touchy, touchy Krazik - that time of the month is it? (apologies to any female forum members).

Course I know it screws your warranty but I'm in Australia goddammit - what chance do you think I have of getting comptech to come over here and fix it for me when something goes wrong?

Insurance - sorry Bruce but that ain't the way it works here in Oz either. If you get in any accident and the insurance company comes and checks out your car and finds mods that you ain't told them about then I'm sorry but you ain't got any coverage. I'd rather pay the money up front than try and get away with that one.

I think it should just be clear as day. It sure is to me and I don't see where there is any room to question what the warrenty is anymore.

That is the warrenty, that is what you get in addition to a kick-ass piece of hardware. If that doesn't appeal to you, then this item, or any other Forced Induction mod isn't for you.

Straight and to the point.

Ask me? I will have a Comptech SC on my car come next summer. I will let the ones of you who want to be the firsts to find the bugs, if any.

But I don't expect some golden honda takes care of me warrenty. I will have comptech, or a comptech specified company install the SC so that there is no question about install quality.

But be clear what you are buying. This doesn't have Honda's name on it, and come as a dealer option. You have 2 parties, who can eaisly point fingers back at each other.
